This weekend was the 150th anniversary of the Lincoln-Douglas debates in Illinois.....and since Freeport was one of the debate sites, there were a lot of activities planned for the weekend. Here are some pictures from the parade on Saturday morning. Abraham Lincoln and Stephen Douglas were actually there! :) They arrived by train the night before - really! Anyway, it was a beautiful day.....I got a little sunburned. For a mom who's been great about sun block all summer, it suddenly seems like fall and I've forgotten it 2 days in a row!
Another interesting bit of history Dale and I discovered this week....the building our shop is in was built over an ancient Indian burial ground. Someone told Dale that this week and wondered if it's haunted. So far, raccoons are the only unwanted guests.
